A few Saturdays from now will be quite a busy time for Fairfax YDs. In the morning, many of our high school students will join their regional peers in the Virginia High School Leadership Academy (more information after the flip). In the afternoon, we will be co-hosting a candidates forum for the four Democrats running in the Mt. Vernon supervisor primary.
The Virginia High School Leadership Academy is a day-long issue advocacy workshop. During the day, high school students will learn how to put together an issue advocacy campaign from young professional leaders in their fields of various progressive causes. If you want to register for the Virginia High School Leadership Academy, please fill out this form and submit your small registration fee, which covers the whole day's programming and materials including lunch.
If you are a member of any chartered Young Democrat club in Virginia (as of last weekend's convention), the fee is $20. For non-members, $25. For Fairfax residents, scholarships are available as needed. Please send us a message at email@example.com if you want to inquire about a scholarship.
You can join the Fairfax Young Dems for the low price of $10 if you're a high school student. The annual dues more than pay for themselves in the discounts and access membership provides throughout the year.
Meanwhile in Mt. Vernon...
Details on the forum are still being worked out, but we do know that it will be on the 18th in the late afternoon. Candice Bennett, Jack Dobbyn, Tim Sargeant and Dan Storck are all running for the Democratic nomination following Gerry Hyland's decision to retire.
