It has been a busy couple of weeks since our last Fairfax Young Democrats meeting. We marched and protested in DC. We wrote, called, and emailed our local elected officials about the new administration cabinet nominees We organized together to develop our thoughts and plans for the upcoming year. Join Fairfax Young Democrats for our March general meeting on March 29 at Pohick Regional Library. Our meeting will begin at 7:30 PM. We will be recapping past events, the VAYD convention, volunteer opportunities in our community, 2017 primary candidates, and barriers for young people getting involved in Virginia politics.
Our special guest for the evening will be Delegate Eileen Filler-Corn. Delegate Filler-Corn has over two decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, working across party lines to make a difference in the lives of all Virginians. In the House of Delegates, Eileen is a member of the Transportation Committee, Finance Committee, and the Commerce & Labor Committee. In November of 2015, she was elected Vice Chair for Outreach of the House Democratic Caucus. She previously served as the House Democratic Whip. Delegate Filler-Corn won decisive victories during the 2017 General Assembly with her legislation that dealt with consent education and improving access to birth control.
