As the progressive movement swells with new activists every day, we want to take an opportunity to provide some basic information about Fairfax County government and the Virginia political structure. Both are very unique. Join Fairfax Young Democrats on February 23 for our event entitled Fairfax 101: Government & Politics. This event will be an informal discussion on the basics of Fairfax County government and the Virginia political structure. it will allow an opportunity for individuals to educate themselves and determine where they can provide the most impact on their issues of concern. The meeting will be held at Thomas Jefferson Library (7415 Arlington Boulevard, Falls Church, 22042). and it will begin at 7:30 PM. We will be discussing several topics including the ongoing General Assembly Session, our FYD action plan/issues platform, and the upcoming FY2018 Fairfax County budget.
Our special guest for the evening will be Supervisor Jeff McKay representing the Lee District in Fairfax County. Supervisor McKay chairs the Fairfax County Board’s Budget and Legislative Committees and co-chairs the Board’s committee on Community Revitalization and Reinvestment.He will provide a unique perspective into our local government.
