The Virginia Young Democrats annual convention is coming up in less than two weeks and we need you to be a delegate!
Convention is the time when the VAYD comes together to elect new officers and conduct other statewide business. This year, the chapter at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, a fellow Northern region chapter, is hosting convention. Meetings of various temporary and standing committees and caucuses will take place starting Friday, March 20 and conclude on Sunday, March 22. The main event is on Saturday morning on the 21st. An awards banquet (where new officers are also sworn in) will take place that evening.
If you are interested in attending convention to be just a delegate or run for office, please register with us. Fairfax Young Dems will cover our delegation's registration fees (until we fill our delegation needs). If you want to attend the banquet, please pay on your own by clicking this link.
Due to traffic conditions around the area, we're postponing the election meeting until Tuesday, January 27 at 7 pm in the cafeteria of Falls Church High School.
For more information, please visit our reorganization page.
If you live in northern Fairfax County or parts of Potomac Falls in Loudoun, you might live in the 34th House of Delegates district. Because of Barbara Comstock's resignation, there's a special election today. Kathleen Murphy is the Democrat who ran in 2013 and narrowly lost in one of the cycle's closest races.
Despite the snow, all regular polling places are open until 7 pm tonight!
Remember to have an authorized form of ID on-hand when you go to vote. Read more about identification here.
