All the Way Up

Fairfax Young Democrats had an AMAZING time at the 2018 Virginia Young Democrats convention hosted by the University Democrats at UVA. Our chapter combined with other chapters from every corner of the Commonwealth to conduct VAYD business and learn new skills to help us elect Democrats. Several members of the Fairfax Young Democrats were elected to leadership positions within the VAYD organization. VAYD is one of the most active statewide chapters in the United States with over fifty chapters.

This year the theme of the convention was "Our Voice". It was an opportunity recognize how different perspectives shape our opinions on policies and learning to be more accommodating of differing opinions. Our training focused on skills that would resonate with political campaigns like communications and fundraising. Many of these training opportunities were taught by other young professionals.  Senator Tim Kaine, Governor Ralph Northam, Attorney General Mark Herring, and a bevy of other elected officials spoke to our members and thanked Young Democrats for their contributions in the 2017 election. Our FYD delegation was energized to get back to Fairfax County and help elect more Democrats in the 2018 midterm elections. Look for pictures of our activities on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/fairfaxyds.
